One blueprint sheet 28 1/2"h x 36 3/8"w for a meat locker plant in Hollywood, Md. The drawing was prepared by the Washington Refrigeration Company of Washington, D.C.
In the upper right corner was a plan for the slaughter house for beef, hogs, and poultry from killing to bleeding to skinning and scalding. The carcasses ended up on an electric hoist to move them into a lard rendering area, an aging and/or chilling room and ultimately to freezers. Specific orders were kept in individual lockers. There was a ham storage room on one side of the building. There was an office and sales area in the lower left corner. Special attention was paid to the ceilings and roof to support the weight of the cooling equipment. There were lavatories in two corners of the building. Pete Himmelheber thinks this was in the Sandy Bottom area of Old Three Notch Road.Collection
