17 3/4"h x 23 3/8"w blueprints in three sheets for a store and office building for John T. Daugherty designed by Mr. Himmelheber.
Sheet 1 showed the front elevation, floor plan, foundation plan, and door schedule of a two story structure planned with two stores on the first floor and offices on the second floor. Thee front elevation showed a double arched roof, almost like a Quonset hut. On the first floor, the left store had a slightly recessed corner door and a large single window on the street side. There was a center entry door to the stairs for the second floor. The store on the right had a center entry door and a good-sized window on each side of that door. The space for the stairs was taken from the store on the right. Each store had a storeroom and tiny bathroom in the back and a back door. On the second floor, there were three four light windows on each side of a tall narrow 24 light center window. The false front was stair-stepped three times to the top.
Sheet 2 showed the second floor plan with wall and roof sections A-A to E-E. The plan showed seven offices, two bathrooms, and a janitor's closet on a long center hall. The offices were of varying sizes, presumably with rents to match. Each office had just one window.
Sheet 3 showed the lighting plan for each floor and had six paragraphs of general notes. The notes showed that a Quonset roof was indeed planned. The exterior walls were to be stuccoed and interior of the those walls was to be plastered, but all interior partitions were to be gypsum board. The first floor ceiling was to be stamped metal. The lighting plan was very simple--each office had one ceiling fixture and one outlet. Each store had five pairs of ceiling fixtures and five wall outlets. The storerooms had two 150 watt lightbulbs in the ceiling. There are a few pencil notes on the verso of this sheet, e.g. "44 1/2 blocks in 60 ft."Collection
