John Bohanan was frequently served with orders to pay the plaintiff; there are three such orders in this time period. There are other bills for daily expenses and one receipt for his purchase of the slave Chloe from Maria Evans. There is a promissory note for $20.78 with Mr. Bohanan's signature neatly cut out. There are several such notes in this collection; I assume the excision means the note has been paid.
