This group opens with a heavily damaged inventory or sale list of the estate of Robert Thomson. It may be that John Bohanan paid for everything on the list and planned to recover his costs from others. There are some communications with Neale, Harris & Co., but it appears Mr. Bohanan switched his business to J. A. Biscoe in 1868. Mr. Bohanan bought a $2000 life insurance policy from Manhattan Life that includes his birth date and death information about his parents and siblings. On January 1, 1869, Mr. Bohanan rented a house and land to Blackstone Harrison, again with the proviso that Harrison be on call to work at the going rate. In the spring of 1869, Mr. Bohanan paid a note for $380 to a Mr. Bond, but whether this was a loan or for services is not indicated. Mr. Bohanan was dunned for $340 by the National Farmers and Planters Bank in Baltimore. There is no indication of how this turned out. In May, 1869, William Hilton mortgaged farm animals and equipment to Mr. Bohanan in payment of a debt. There is a long letter from an insurance agent who is probably a family member, but the signature is illegible. This group includes one note with the signature excised.Collection
