A torn form from the Internal Revenue Service indicates Mr. Bohanan was a lawyer. There is a December, 1866 letter from his brother, James, referring to additional paperwork for claims for the value of slaves. One small certificate shows that Mr. Bohanan visited Cave of the Winds at Niagara Falls in 1867. Mr. Bohanan was involved in the sale or disposal of three schooners that were part of estate of James L. and Andrew J. Foxwell as the administrator of the estate. Mr. Bohanan purchased a life insurance policy of $2500 in 1868. There are assorted legal notices for estates with which Mr. Bohanan was involved. One document is a court decree that seems to show that Mr. Bohanan was the administrator for both the defendant and the plaintiff. There is a lovely certificate certifying that Mr. Bohanan purchased twelve shares of the Maryland Grange for $5.00 each in May of 1895.Collection
