Scope and Content

28 pieces of varying sizes in 17 wrappers These pieces are all dated. There are tax bills for Aaron Smith, Francis Smith, Catherine Holland, and William Wise. There is a receipt for payment of a note by Perry Combs. There is a receipt for a loan of $24.80 against his life insurance policy by Lewis Peake. There is an account sheet for W. M. Hilton from Neale, Harris, & Co. There is a copy of a paper read at the Maryland Historical Society in 1865 about early Maryland settlers. There is a grand jury summons for Samuel Graves, James E. Long, and James H. Baker in March, 1866; Mr. Baker is identified as "colored." There is a fragment of a Baltimore newspaper that I retained because it had so many ads for Leonardtown businesses or Baltimore businesses with ties to St. Mary's County. There are four friendly letters to J. Frank Bohanan from a Jennie Casper, who also signed herself "Rebel."
