This is a copy of the Book of Common Prayer given to J. Marshall Dent by his mother, Lillia D. Dent. It has a maroon cover embossed with diamond shapes inside a 3/8" border. Mr. Dent's name is in the vertical border near the spine, Common is in the border on the top and Prayer is on the bottom border in gold type. The edges of the covers are bound in brass and there was a hinged strap to keep the book closed, but it is gone. The covers are completely disengaged from the text block and the front cover has separated from the spine. Several pages in the front and back of the text block are loose and their edges have been compromised. On the inside front cover: "J. Marshall Dent presented by his mother, Mrs. Lillia D. Dent." On the frontispiece: "J. Marshall Dent, presented by his mother."Collection
