Copy of a Don Swann etching of Brice House in Annapolis. The image is on very acidic paper and mounted on heavy paper board: 9 1/4"h x 10 7/8"w. The image was in a cheap frame with several informative paragraphs on the back of the frame. That information was photocopied onto permanent paper and is with the piece. The style and topography of each descriptive sheet suggests this image was part of a series. The house was two substantial buildings connected by a hyphen. Each building was two stories; the building on the right was raised up on an English basement. Both buildings had gable roofs, very steep, and no dormers. The large inside end chimneys were centered on each gable end. The right hand building was five bays wide, with a central entrance on the first floor. There was a small uncovered porch in front of the door. The entrance to the left building was not visible. There was a brick retaining wall between the sidewalk and the minimal yard. The left building was directly on the street. The left building had shutters on the first floor, but the right building had no shutters at all.Collection
