This is an 8"h x 10"w black and white photo of Mr. Briscoe and Felix DeWeldon, the sculptor of the altar at St. Nicholas Church on the naval base and the Iwo Jima memorial at a meeting in Annapolis. Historic St. Mary's City Commission considered having Mr. DeWeldon do a sculpture for them, but the project foundered on the design and location and especially the cost. Mr. Briscoe was much in favor of having such a prestigious sculptor create something for the county. The caption has been typed on a piece of paper and taped to the photo: "1976 Arthur 'Buck' Briscoe and Felix de Weldon, the sculptor who did the Iwo Jima Monument, honoring the Marines. The Iwo Jima Monument in 1983 had been viewed by 87 million people."
