Calvert Monument, St. Mary's City, Md.Entry/Object ID
2001.001.0013Description
5 3/8"h x 3 5/16"w postcard with a vertical orientation. The black and white image is 5 7/16"h, leaving a one inch space at the bottom for the title and publication data. The viewer was standing on the bluff looking north across and up the Saint Mary's River. There were a few trees, one of which appeared to be hiding behind the Calvert Monument, which was the focus of the image. The hill was high, with a steep dropoff. The verso was the usual center line division with the left for correspondence and the right for an address, neither of which had been used. In the upper left corner was the eagle, shield, arrows, and olive branch all in brown ink. This card was published by the Illustrated Post Card Company of New York.Collection
