Description

The Courts were selected to be photographed for a USDA Extension Service filmstrip about self-sufficiency on the farm--grow and preserve your own food to obviate the need for cash. This is a black and white photo. Photo 7. Mrs. Court is demonstrating canning of vegetables. She is working with carrots, but there are jars of other vegetables already completed sitting on the table. The pressure cooker is on the stove and a dish of sterilized lids and rings is also on the stove. There are several shelves above the stove carrying canisters, crocks, cooking ingredients and tools. The kitchen sink is behind her and to the left. A large sunny window is behind the stove. [Hope Grace thinks this was kerosene fired.] There is a heavy black cord draped over the window and down by the sink.
