15 3/4"h x 10 3/8"w x 5/8"d maroon book with cardboard covers bound with buckram with leather spine and corners. A small gold dentil line outlined the corners and spine. The spine had five panels, but no text. On the front cover, 7" from the top in gold, was "Cashier Check Register." the "ister" in Register was very worn. On cover p. 2 was a clever label that allowed the book's owner to tear off an order sheet to get the next book. On cover p. 3, there is a rectangular space cut out of the paper. In the upper corner of each page was printed Form No. 12 Check Register. Each page was numbered in blue ink in an upper corner. There were seven columns: column 1 was Date, month and day, column 2 was Payable To, column 3 was [check] Number, column 4 was Amount, column 5 was Total, column 6 was Date Paid, and column 7 was Issued For. The column for total was always blank. All entries were by hand. More than half the checks were to businesses, as people or companies paid bills.
