Cedar Point Lighthouse in fogEntry/Object ID
1980.001.0307Description
3 1/4"h X 4 3/4"w black and white photo of the Cedar Point Lighthouse. There may be a fog bank behind it, but there is enough light to cast a rippled shadow in the water. The four buildings were surrounded by a concrete sea wall. There was a two story building on the left, a house with the light in its roof, an outbuilding, and a small building that was likely the "necessary" on the right. The house had a shed roof porch on each side. The government bought the land in 1894, but chose to abandon the station in 1928 when the land bridge eroded away. The house sank into ruin over the course of many years.
