Cedar Point Lighthouse. Color transparency. View is from the water, looking north. This is the south side of the house. Brick below, shingle? above, two and one half story house with a gable roof and the light on north side of the roof. A chimney hole is visible near the peak of the roof on the near side, but the chimney is gone. On the second floor are two double windows on the visible gable end. Below is a three bay porch with pillars, although one corner pillar is missing, a brick railing all around and a leanto roof. There are three openings under the porch roof; one may be for a door. There are two tall rectangular window openings with light colored sills on the first floor. The space under the porch is enclosed by brick. There are two small window openings with light colored sills on the lower level. The house is in a derelict condition. On the far side of the house roof is a large square structure. On top of it is a square platform with a metal fence to provide a railing. Above that is an eight-sided structure capped by a circular roof with a ball on top, just like the Blakiston Light. A large piece of metal with several angled panels lies on the shingle roof. Rocks in the foreground provide a minimal breakwater and there are chunks of concrete and brickwork. Birds are perched all over the rocks. It is all very stark and sad. This slide was provided by Alfred Dillow for the use of Lenore Blevins as she painted a picture of the structure. There is no note as to the date of the original.Collection
