1 sheet : 37" x 47"
This is an incomplete photocopy of a large (37" x 47") map of central Kentucky in 1877. It focuses on Washington and Marion County and points south. There are several insets: St. Mary's, Loretto, Chicago, Raywick, New Market, Bradfordsville, Lebanon, and Macksville. Rivers, streams, precinct lines, and roads were shown. Individual family farms were dots on the map, with the name of the owner included. In the insets, streets are carefully drawn, buildings are black shapes, and all the owners were identified. Since this is the area to which many St. Mary's County families migrated, there are many recognizable names. On the side, there are lists of business owners, churchmen, and farmers. A small box in the lower right corner lists the 1870 census numbers, but it did not copy well at all.Collection
