14 documents of varying size
The 15 individual pieces of this series were presented to Mr. Fenwick by Meredith Capper. The documents were found in an old house on Capper land. The house has since been torn down. Mr. Fenwick's note says Amanda Floyd Dunbar later married David Tyler, so perhaps the Dunbars were associated with this land and house. The material includes the will of John Bullock (1700), will of Robert Scott (1733), a deed between John Swales and Thomas Reeder (1746), deeds and surveys of St. John's, Faunkirk, and Bogue's Increase (1760 and 1805), the 1803 will of Thomas Cooper, a mustering out record from 1865 that is too faint to read, an 1807 survey of Faunkirk's glebe land plus 240A. and Bogue's Increase, a letter from Francis J. Stone while a student at Georgetown to his aunt Ann F. Smith in January 1840, a copy book of sentimental poetry that belonged to Margaret Floyd in 1843, an 1850 survey of St. John's, Bogue's Increase, Faunkirk and Workington as conveyed to A.B. Symns, two letters from Lucie Dunbar, a student at St. Joseph's Academy in Emmitsburg to her mother Amanda Dunbar in Ridge. Many of these pieces dovetail with the Wathen group, but I suppose we will never know the connection. It is very possible that the material became mixed together over the years it was in Mr. Fenwick's possession.Collection
