This document was presented to Mr. Fenwick by Meredith Capper. The documents were found in an old house on Capper land. The house has since been torn down. Mr. Fenwick's note says Amanda Floyd Dunbar later married David Tyler, so perhaps the Dunbars were associated with this land and house.
This document is an indenture on one side and a deed on the other for the sale of part of St. John's to Thomas Reeder by James Warwick for fourteen thousand pounds of crop tobacco. The indenture was signed and sealed in the presence of Thomas Greenfield and ? Locke. James Warwick made his mark. Warwick signed the deed in the same fashion. Thomas Reeder paid a six shilling alienation due to Edwards Lloyd, his Lordship's agent. The deed was registered by Richard Ward Key and enrolled in the liber book the same day, March 4, 1760. Warwick's wife Elizabeth was examined out of the hearing of her husband as to whether she agreed with the sale.
