This pay record was presented to Mr. Fenwick by Meredith Capper. The documents were found in an old house on Capper land. The house has since been torn down. Mr. Fenwick's note says Amanda Floyd Dunbar later married David Tyler, so perhaps the Dunbars were associated with this land and house.
This pay record form is titled: "Descriptive List and Account of Pay and Clothing of " but sadly, the ink has completely faded. Several attempts with the photocopier yielded only that the person was a private. The form included spaces for the name, rank, description, birth location, occupation, enlistment data, payment details, bounty due, and remarks. There are several entries, but none is visible. One area of the form has different ink entry that says "Apl 1st 1865 paid 4 months to include Febry 28, 1865 $72" The signature is illegible. There are also several lines in the lower right quadrant, likewise completely illegible. No mention of which side, Union or Confederate, was issuing the money. A great pity.Collection
