Scope and Content
1 sheet ; 8" x 4 3/4"
This sheet is pale brown with barely discernible blue ruling. The original sheet of 8" x 4 3/4" was folded down to fit in a 5 1/2" x 3" envelope and there it stayed for many years.
December 17, 1864 Letter from James A. Jackson to his brother Albert Jackson. James thanked his brother for news of various relatives and asked if their mother could send James some money. The ink on the paper is rather faint.
There was an envelope with this letter. Someone had written a tiny 5 in a circle near the postmark. An attempt at a transcription is included.
