Scope and Content

1 sheet ; 12" h x 7" w James Boyd sold William Cummings what was purported to be one hundred acres of land in Medley's Neck for nine thousand pounds of tobacco. Boyd paid 5500 pounds for the land three years before. There is only a general description of the location of the land in this document. The transaction was witnessed by five men. Part of the page that attested to the recordation of the transaction is present. When the copy of the entire process was made in 1771, the clerk of the land office, Daniel Wolstenhome, included the public seal on the document. There is a photocopy and an attempt at a transcription in the folder.
