1 sheet ; 9 1/8"h x 15"w
This is a sheepskin patent. The vertical edges were folded toward the middle and the result folded twice more. There are four panels as a result, but they are not equal in size.
Cornelius Manning took advantage of the confiscated British properties to survey [October 5, 1790] and request a patent for Locust Thickett, part of Beaverdam Manor in the central part of the county along what is now St. John's Road. In 1809, the General Assembly approved the change of ownership and directed the Register of the Land Office to issue a patent. Manning requested the patent, so the Chancellor ordered the patent be issued. Bureaucracy has always been alive and well. The courses are listed. There is a photocopy of the document and an attempt at a transcription included in the folder.Collection
