1 leaf ; 13 1/4"h x 16 9/16" w This document was folded in half vertically and then folded again to end up in four panels. This is a copy of the directions from the Court to the Sheriff, Samuel Abell, to deliver one-third of Radnor to William and Monica Greenwell, since she was entitled to that amount from her first husband, Robert Manning. The Greenwells sued Cornelius Manning for the land, the court found in their favor, and Manning also had to pay damages. The Sheriff was also to find out the value of the land during the time the Greenwells were kept from it, the costs of the suit, and present a bill for damages. The Sheriff replied that he had consulted twelve local men who testified that Robert Manning did, in fact, own Radnor at the time of his death. Further, the land was worth six thousand pounds of tobacco, so for their costs and the land value, the Greenwells were entitled to an illegible amount of tobacco for damages. J. Harris, Clerk of the Court, made a copy of the document on August 30, 1796. There is a multi-point star-shaped paper seal by the clerk's signature. There is a photocopy and an attempt at a transcription in the folder.
