Scope and Content

1 sheet ; 19 7/8" x 14 7/8" A heavy coated paper in deep cream with black ink certificate 19 7/8"h x 14 7/8"w from the national office of the American Legion Auxiliary announcing the formation of the John K. Fogarty Post 162 of Pearson, Maryland of the American Legion Auxiliary. The charter was signed at the national office on March 26, 1946 and by the Maryland office on April 5, 1946. Four people signed it. The signatures on the left have faded badly. There is a "gold" paper sticker with a small piece of red, white, and blue ribbon attached to a circle in the center of the bottom of the sheet. At thee top, an arch with a keystone showing the United States Capitol hovered over an eagle with outstretched wings. It is a very elaborate piece. ************************************* Text on verso: In black stamp and fountain ink "Permanent Charter Issued 3-26-46 Registration number 12512"
