Entry/Object ID

Scope and Content

2 pieces ; 14 15/8"h x 9 3/4"w This photostat is of Liber 18, folio 424-425. Grace Brooke was the widow of Robert Brooke. She appointed Robert Brooke her executor. She left personal effects to various people, especially her daughters Elizabeth Fenwick and Grace Magill. She left twelve shillings to each daughter and one daughter-in-law to buy a ring and gave the ring on her finger to her other daughter-in-law. A son John is mentioned, but the last name is illegible. Notice that she did not devise any land because all she had was the widow's third that automatically went to the oldest son. The will was witnessed by Robert R. Bennet and Mitchell Phillips. An attempt at a transcription is included with the piece.
