Enoch Bryan purchased two lots from James Allstan and Bennett Walker. The land had belonged to Robert Saxton. On September 20, 1809, Mr. Bryan promised to pay 10,000 pounds of tobacco for each lot. Interest was charged and there was some disagreement about the value of the crop in some years, but on August 30, 1811, a hogshead of tobacco weighing twelve hundred and twenty pounds was used to settle the debt. Charles Allstan signed on behalf of James Allstan and the document was witnessed by Thomas Allstan.
