1 page ; 13"h x 16 1/4"w This is one of 25 individual pieces found in the courthouse trash by G. Frank Wathen and given by him to J. Allan Coad, who subsequently gave them to Mr. Fenwick. The archivist found the documents folded and bundled together at the bottom of a carton that was part of Mr. Fenwick's collection; some of the pieces are so frail, it is a miracle they survived. This is two documents on one large sheet to provide notice to McKelva Armsworthy of a lawsuit barring ejectment filed against Richard Fenn. The notice includes the pleading of the plaintiff saying that John Denn had a fifteen year lease on tracts of plantable land called "Lordship's Favour," "Vaughn's Hills," "Unexpected," "Dirt Hook Bridge," "Rout Cap, "Jarboe's Ramble," "Beverly," "Mill Manor," and "Chilton's Adventure" [close to 900 acres] from John A. Carter and Richardetta Carter and John P. DeButts and his wife. Richard Fenn forcibly removed John Denn, even though the lease was not up. Somehow Armsworthy was on the land at the time of the notice. Why Richard Fenn thought he was entitled to eject anyone is not explained.
