Description

6 7/8"h x 9 3/8"w sepia tone photo of the 1913 Charlotte Hall School baseball team. The young men are in uniform, lined up roughly in profile and roughly by size, with shorter men to the left and taller ones on the right. Bats, mitts, and a catcher's mask are barely visible on the ground in front of them. There were ten men on the team. Three had on solid dark caps with small brims, four had on caps with a white top and dark brims, and three had on all white caps. Nine of the men had on light colored short-sleeved shirts with "Charlotte Hall" emblazoned on the chest. The young man on the far left had on a different shirt with no lettering. All but one man had on a dark long-sleeved shirt underneath; the two on the far left had striped sleeves. All wore pin striped baseball pants bloused at the knee, dark ribbed socks, and ankle-high athletic shoes. None of the men looked happy to be there. They were in a field with a street light and a path behind them. In the distance was a long line of white five bar fence. There were mature trees in the middle distance. ********************************** Typed on a piece of white paper attached to the bottom of the photo: Baseball Team--1913 Left to Right: Austin H.
