One 5"h x 7"w black and white photo of the barracks at Charlotte Hall School around 1845. Was there really a photographer in the county in 1845? There were three buildings joined together in a line. On the left was a nearly square stucco building with a dark mansard roof. On the narrow side were two dormers, on the second floor three windows with shutters, on the first floor three windows with shutters. On the long side were three dormers, on the second floor four windows with shutters and on the first floor four windows with shutters. There was a ten bay portico on the first floor from the left building, across the center building to the right building. Behind the portico was a gable roofed stuccoed house with four inside end chimneys. In this view, there were three large dormers, each with a window with dark shutters. On the second floor were five windows with dark shutters. The first floor had three windows left of a dorr, three windows to the right of that door, another door and one more window. The right building was just like the left building except one could see the chimney on the back corner. There were several trees in the yard, but they were small and spindly.
