Scope and Content

1 folder (9 5/8" x 11 3/4") The Dents were part of Charlotte Hall School from the beginning; George Dent was a member of the first Board of Trustees and Rev. Hatch Dent was the first principal of the school. Eighteen members of the family attended the school. In 1883 the Dent family created a trust fund which funded the building of Dent Chapel on a corner of the school grounds. Even though the school is closed, the chapel is still in use. This folder contains an invitation to the students' annual ball of 1854, a dance card for the 1910 June ball, several Christmas cards featuring photos of sites at the school, an invitation to the 1975 commencement exercises, and three birth certificates and a baptism record for three Dent children born in the 1960s.
