Charlotte Hall School rifle range in 1916Entry/Object ID
1971.001.0057Description
7"h x 10"w sepia tone photo of Charlotte Hall School students on the rifle range. Five young men were prone with their weapons, four were supporting their left arm on a knee, and four more were standing. All were looking fixedly at an invisible target. Six of the men had dark caps with a small brim, much like a railroad conductor's cap. The other men had similar caps in a lighter color. All the young men wore light colored long sleeve shirts and darker trousers with a dark stripe down each leg. The group was in a field with many flowers. There was a wire fence in the distance against a tree line. The photo may have been a proof, because "Property of Harris & Ewing, Washington, D.C." was punched in the lower right corner. No one in the photo is identified.
