Description

3 5/8"h x 1 3/4"w sepia tone portrait of an unidentified Charlotte Hall School student. My guess is John Marshall Dent, Jr., but it might also be John Francis Dent. The young man appeared to be tall and slender with dark hair. He had on a light colored jacket with a dark collar with a white shirt collar above it. The letters "C H S" were on the dark collar. The dark color from the collar followed down each side of the front opening and went around the bottom edge of the jacket. There was a dark stripe on each sleeve about six inches above the cuff. He also had a single stripe of rank on the upper part of each sleeve. He cradled a dark Civil War style cap in his left hand. The matching trousers had a dark stripe down the side seam. ************************************ Text on verso: none
