Cherry Hill tenant house?Entry/Object ID
1980.001.0038Description
3 1/2" x 5 3/4" black and white photo of a Cherry Hill tenant house, I think. It was also a two part building. It was probably not lived in at the time of the photo because the lower roof had failed completely. The larger part of the building was barely a story and a half with a gable shake roof. There was one inside end chimney in that part of the house. Centered under the eaves on the long side of the house was a small rectangular window, probably at floor level. On the first floor, there was a door on the right and a six over six light window on the left. It is difficult to see, but the house may have been earth-fast. The house had clapboard siding on both halves. The right half of the house was not as tall, but also had a gable roof covered with tar paper. It had a small inside end chimney. It had a crude center door and a single small window on the right. Both halves of the house were in very poor repair. There was a small shed on the right and possibly an outhouse. There was either a huge black dog in the yard or a small black horse. A tree obscured the view of the gable end. A man stood next to the tree.
