Black and white 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w photo of Christ Church in Chaptico. This view is of the front of the church from some distance away. The building has a gable roof. The steeple is a large square attached to the center of the building, providing a portico over the front door. The church is dark brick, but all trim and window frames are white. On the first floor is a round arch window on each side of the steeple and a round arch door framed by the round arch of the entry under the steeple. There is a band of white masonry in the steeple about eight feet up from the ground. On the second floor of the steeple is a large round arch window that is divided vertically in the center. These windows are in two parts--the lower portion has nine square lights and the upper portion has twelve square lights below the fan portion. There is also a window on each side of the steeple at this level, but details are not visible. There is a circular motif on each side of the third floor of the steeple. The top of the steeple is crowned with a cornice and frieze. The belfry is octagonal, with rounded arch spaces that are not open, but it is not possible to tell exactly what has been used to cover them. There is a tall pointed spire above. The spire and belfry are white. There is an iron fence around the church and its graveyard. A large monument is visible on the left. There are large trees and bushes around the building.
