3 1/2" x 6" sepia tone photograph of Christ Protestant Episcopal Church in Wayside, Md. There was a multi-colored roughly waist high brick wall with a flat cap between the photographer and the building. There were two possibly eight foot high pillars to support two wrought iron gates to allow entrance of wheeled vehicles into the church yard with a lower, narrower wrought iron gate on the right for people to come in. Each gate had many vertical rods at the bottom, more widely spaced rods above a cross rod and two cross roads at the top. Each of the large and small gates had a half arc strip from the outside up to the center vertical bar to be both decorative and to stabilize the structure. The straight bar across the top of the large gates supported an elaborate arrangement of waves and curlicues that ascended to a high point at the center of each gate. Each large gate also had a sort of sunburst attached to its arc. The building itself was small, appeared to be brick, with a gable roof. There was an inside chimney about two thirds down the long edge of the roof and a couple of feet in from the eave. There was a small bell tower at the roof peak on the far end of the building. There appeared to be a small bell in the tower. The near end of the building had one narrow pointed arch window above and two narrow pointed arch windows below. Each window had a projecting sill, possibly to prevent water pooling at the bottom of the sash. There was an odd reflection that prevented a clear view of the long side of the building. There may have been four more pointed arch windows on that elevation. The entrance to the church must be at the other elevation under the bell tower. A large stone cross was visible on the far right behind the brick wall; presumably in the cemetery. A negative was included.
