July 14, 1953, August 10, 1953, November 5, 1953 Payments to John R. Drury for insurance August 11, 1955, September 19, 1955, November 14, 1955 Payments to John R. Drury for insurance January 1, 1961 Bill for December's laundry done by Leonardtown Laundry, Inc. December 19, 1961 Car maintenance at Goddard's Garage, Woodley Goddard, proprietor January 16, 1962 Coad apparently paid for Virginia Hebb's trip to the Mediterranean in March of 1962 January 20, 1962 Electronic Equipment Company in Lexington Park repaired Coad's television set January and February 1963 Samples of dozens of small tickets with Southern States Cooperative logo at the top. However, down in the bottom left corner, was stamped "J. W. Dent & Sons, Drayden, Maryland." It may be that Dent ran the Coop's store. Mrs. Coad, or someone from her household authorized to charge to her account, went to the store nearly every day. There are fifteen sample receipts selected from several dozen little tickets. She had a running account for the Sunday paper, bought gas, groceries, and almost anything that came to mind. February 1, 1963 Leonardtown Laundry's bill February 2, 1963 Mrs. Coad bought 14 pounds of sausage and 12 dozen eggs from Thomas E. Adams February 8, 1963 Wilkinson's, Joseph P. Wilkinson, Jr., proprietor, repaired the Coad's dishwasher March 1, 1963 P.J. Bean, M.D. for services rendered to J. Allan Coad, likely in his final illness March 19, 1963 Mitchell Thompson repaired two typewriters March 21, 1963 Wilkinson's, Joseph P. Wilkinson, Jr., proprietor, repaired the Coad's dishwasher again April 1963 John M. Owens of Valley Lee worked on a lawn mower April 1, 1963 Leonardtown Laundry's bill April 11, 1963 Mrs. Coad bought a crib and mattress and a 9' x 12' rug from Bill Raley Sales Center May 1, 1963 Besides the regular laundry, there were four rugs in the wash at Leonardtown Laundry January to July 1964 More Southern States/J. W. Dent sample receipts from many dozen tickets. 37 tickets for food, gasoline, dairy feed, other farming supplies, etc., etc. Imagine ten gallons of gas for $3.69! August 1964 Beginning with these receipts, the Southern States logo disappeared from the top of the ticket and was replaced by J. W. Dent and Sons stamped in purple on the top. Mrs. Coad, continued her purchase practices. There are nine sample receipts from several dozen tickets. October and November 1964 More receipts from J. W. Dent's store. She was apparently billed monthly and kept track of the small receipts to check against the bill. December 9, 1964, December 17, 1964 twice Mrs. Coad bought plants, gifts, and poinsettias from Asbury's Flowers in Lexington Park January 1965 More examples of purchases at J. W. Dent's store January 1, 1965 Mrs. Coad had a credit at the Leonardtown Laundry January 4, 1965 Garfinckel & Co. department store in Washington, D.C. presented a bill January 6, 1965 Lester Mattingly Sons of Leonardtown did tree work at an unspecified location on three days in November January 8, 1965 Receipt for Mrs. Coad's membership in the St. Mary's County Historical Society January 14, 1965 Dick Cawood of Bill Raley's Sales Center, Inc. put down a linoleum floor for Mrs. Coad. Two men each worked eight hours. January 15, 1965 Mrs. Coad bought 45 pounds! of sausage and a spare rib from Vincent Adams.
