Description

3 1/2"h x 5"w black and white photo of a house Dr. Guyther identified as the Coad House, but it is not the same as the house in 2014.009.0111. This is a snow scene. This elevation showed a white clapboard two story house without dormers and a one story screened porch on the right gable end. There were brick chimneys centered on each gable end. The screened porch enveloped one chimney. In the visible gable end there was a louver in the attic and one six over six double hung window on each side of the chimney. There were dark shutters, probably not black, on the windows; some of the shutters had snow on them. On the long side of the house, the second floor windows were distinctive. A single six over six double hung window with shutters was on the left. Three windows were centered over the porch roof: a narrow two light double hung window, a larger four over two window and another narrow two light window. There were shutters for this group. Another six over six double hung shuttered window was on the right. The windows on the left side of the first floor were obscured by a bush. The entry door was in the center and had a round arch porch roof supported by two round posts. To the right of the door were two widely spaced windows that were somewhat larger than those on the second floor; the shutters were closed over the windows. The porch was three bays deep and three bays wide and had a gently hipped roof. The cross piece supporting the screens was just a little lower than midway. There may have been double posts at the corners and there were posts on each side of the entry door. There were several shrubs in the yard and large trees around the house. There was one power pole at the edge of the road and another close to the first line of shrubbery. There may have been another road or a driveway at the rear of the property. ********************************** Text on verso: in black ball point ink "Coad House--Ch Hall--Mar 2005 purchased by the Anglican Catholic Church"
