1995.001.2401Description
3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w black and white photo of an old house. The house had a steep gable roof; the visible side covered a full length four bay open porch. The house looked like a duplex or a former slave cabin because it had two front doors and three windows on the first floor. The porch was supported on large rocks. There were outside end chimneys on each gable end. In the roof peak of the near gable end, there was a small double hung window with a screen. To the left of the main house was a low gable roof addition with one six over six double hung window and a door that was two steps above the ground. The drive crossed in front of the house and there was a patch of lawn on the other side. There was a crude single rail fence around the patch and a wooden lawn swing on the right. This home is also called the Payne House [see 1995.001.1110]
