3 1/8"h x 4 1/4"w sepia tone photo of the Dillow and Hayden bakery and County Trust Co. Bank on the north side of Washington Street between the square and the courthouse. The bakery had very dark clapboard siding. It was mostly two stories tall. Three windows were visible on the first floor. The bank building was small--narrow on the street side and not too deep. It was full brick with a gable roof. There was one large window on the left side of the front elevation and a small vestibule projected from the building on the right. A demilune window with presumably the name of the bank was over the double doorway with a large window in the top half and wood paneling in the bottom half of each door. There were three stone steps up from the street. In the small space in the gable peak one small Palladian window was almost entirely obscured by the alarm box. There was a cornice on the gable end with dentil decoration and an open pediment over the entry door with a different style of dentil decoration. There was lots of gingerbread on the building, really more than it could carry gracefully--it was much like an overdone dollhouse. There was some sort of decoration on the roof peak, but it is impossible to see clearly. On the left, toward the back of the building was a small flat roofed addition with one tall window. On the right were two brick posts separated by brick open work to make a small fence. The photo was taken from across the street. Everything was very neat and clean. Power lines were dimly visible near the top edge of the photo. The image was marred by a paper clip.
