3 1/2"h x 3 1/8"w black and white photo of County Trust Co. on Washington Street. The house on the left, Rose Cottage, was a typical story and a half shingled house with a full front porch incorporated into the original roof line. There was wood lattice covering the end of the porch from prying eyes. There was one gable roofed dormer visible in the roof over the front door. On the gable end, there was one window visible on the second floor and one window visible on the first floor. George Morgan Knight, Jr. and his mother, Grace Knight, lived in Rose Cottage in the 1950s. The bank building was small--narrow on the street side and not too deep. It was full brick. There was one large window with a transom on the left side of the front elevation and a vestibule projected from the building on the right. A demilune window with presumably the name of the bank was over the doorway. There was a double door with glass above and wood panelling below in each door. There were three stone steps up from the street. In the small space in the gable peak one small Palladian window was almost entirely obscured by the alarm box. There were six tall narrow windows visible on the east elevation. A small gable projected from the roof at right angles over the central windows on the side and there was a small window in the gable. All the windows had light colored cornices, more or less elaborate depending on location. There was lots of gingerbread on the building, really more than it could carry gracefully--it was much like an overdone dollhouse. There appeared to be a smaller addition on the rear of the building. There was some sort of decoration on the roof peak, but it is impossible to see clearly. The photo was taken from across the street and shows the gutters and a driveway next to the building. A Cadillac? was parked by the building. Out at the street, one sign said not to park between signs and another listed the times that prohibition was in effect.
