Charles Fenwick was president of the Historical Society for many years. He was also the lead person at the Leonardtown Branch of the County Trust Company and used the bank's vaults to store lots of material for the Society, such as back issues of the Chronicles. When the bank wanted to substantially remodel their building in 2014, [Mr. Fenwick had been dead for 20 years] they asked the Society to clear their material from the vaults. When the archivist went over to do the job, she observed many bank records on a junk pile and asked if the Society might have them. This was fine with the bank, so dozens of ledgers and other paper records were brought to Tudor Hall. The archivist will attempt to select enough things to tell the story of the county's economic development in the first half of the 20th century. This collection is only partially cataloged. Everything is foldered and boxed. If there are no record numbers on a box, the material therein has not been cataloged.
Historically, the bank existed as multiple entities:
~1910 - Eastern Shore Trust Company
1930's - County Trust Company of Maryland (Leonardtown Branch)
1961 - Maryland National Bank
1993 - Nation's Bank
1998 - Bank of America
2018 - Closed in LeonardtownCollection
