Description

3 1/2"h x 5"w sepia tone photo of De La Brooke Manor house. This is probably a photo of a photo. The circular drive was present. A large black touring car was pulled up in front of the house. The house had a steep gable roof with paired inside end chimney blocs at each end. There were two dormers, also with gable roofs. There were six over six windows in the dormers; one pane was missing from the window on the right. On the left gable end, two windows were visible in each floor of the brick wall; if there were shuuters on the windows, they were closed. The house had an English basement; it was delineated by white paint and there were two windows in the brick wall. On the long wall on the second floor, there were three large six over six double hung windows with shutters. One shutter was closed on the center and right windows. On the first floor, the entry door was on the left; its porch had a hipped roof supported by two posts. The small porch floor was six or seven steps from the ground. There were two six over six double hung windows with dark shutters to the right of the door. There were two four light windows for the basement. On the right gable end of the main house was a narrow two story brick addition with its own gable roof and inside end chimney. There were three windows on the second floor and a center door flanked by a single window on the first floor. About fifty feet to the right and in line with the addition, there was a two story gable roof clapboard building. It had a door on the first floor gable end and two narrow windows on the side. Just to its right was the windmill tower and then a low clapboard building without visible windows. The river was in the middle distance, but the photo was too washed out to see it. ********************************** Text on verso: in black ball point ink "De La Brooke Manor as it looked when Goodharts purchased farm.
