Description

3 1/2"h x 5"w color photo of a De La Brooke Manor farmhouse. The person who took the photo was on top of a nearby windmill, so he looked down a slope to the farmhouse by the Patuxent River. It is a standard farmhouse with a gable roof and another gable at right angles in the center of the long wall. There was an inside end chimney on the left gable end and another about two thirds of the way toward the right gable end. There was a four light round arch window in the attic, three four light windows evenly spaced along the long wall, and a central entry door on the first floor flanked by one window on each side. The entire long wall was covered with a screened porch that was two bays deep and about five bays wide. The entry door appeared to be just to the left of center. There did not appear to be any windows or doors in the visible gable end. To the left and behind the house was a screened gazebo. Behind and to the right was a pier. The drive to the house came in from the left near the shore. In the foreground was a large fenced field that was low and swampy in the corner. In the far distance on the left was the Chalk Point power plant. ********************************** Text on verso: in black ink "Farm house on De La Brooke Manor farm Photo taken from atop of the windmill 1985"
