This is a deep navy buckram bound copy of a photocopy of the original book. It is 8 7/8"h x 11 1/4"w. Mr. Sylvester came to the county and stayed from October 1938 to March of 1939, gathering background for his book. After the book of 262 pages was published in 1942, countians felt he described some characters too accurately and there was bad feeling about the experience. This copy includes an 8" x 10" photo of the author, two copies of a key showing the real person on whom a particular character is likely modeled, and a time line of events during Mr. Sylvester's stay in the county.
