Description
11 3/8"h x 9"w dark red guest book for the funeral of Ruth Petrie Dent Burch in September 1959. The cover is heavily embossed with leaves and scrolls and bunches of grapes and a central gold flower. The front cover is all but detached from the book and the back cover is threatening to do the same. There is a dark red cord with fringed ends looped through the spine. A plastic spine inside the cover holds five sheets. Mrs. Burch's wedding photo is pasted on cover p. two. On page one are her birth and death dates. There are no entries on page two. A photo of an unidentified World War I soldier is pasted on page three. Perhaps this was Mr. Burch. At the top edge of the photo is written "Camp McClellan Alabama 1917" and in the image near the bottom is written "Anniston, Ala through 1919." There are no entries on page four. Page five is headed "Friends Who Called" and is full of names, as are the next four pages. There is no information as to the location of the service or the funeral company that handled the arrangements.
