This is a 6"h x 9 1/4"w piece of pale brown paper, a preprinted high school principal's certificate issued by the Department of Education of the State of Maryland. An engraved Maryland seal is in the top center of the form. This is certificate number 256 for Lettie Marshall Dent who was eligible to be a high school principal for two years from the date of issue. Ordinarily, the certificates were issued for three years, but the word "three" has been Xed out and "two" substituted. A very small piece of paper in the upper left corner said she had to do an additional six hours of course work for the first renewal of the certificate. An embossed seal of the Department was in the lower left corner. Nothing on the verso was filled in.
