Description

6"h X 4"w portrait orientation color photograph of the Dent Memorial Chapel in Charlotte Hall. The photographer was on the front left of the gable entry end of the building, closer to the building than the previous photos. It had a very steep slate roof with large overhangs. A small belfry was on the very edge of the building at the roof peak. The belfry was made of brick and stone only a couple of courses thick rising to a steep peak just like the roof. A bell hung in the small opening in the center of the belfry. The soffits were painted brown and there were sawtooth verge boards on the gable end. A rough stone entry with a steep slate roof was on the first level of the gable end. Directly above its roof peak was a round window into the sanctuary. There was a narrow pointed arch window next to the entry. There were two small half moon windows on the side of the entryway. A ramp with wooden railings led up to the entry door. Only one narrow pointed arch windows was visible on the long side of the chapel. There was a small chimney near the front corner of the roof. ************************************** Text on verso: in blue stamp ink "OCT 89J" [photos appear to have been taken in the summer]
