The book's pages were numbered in blue. At the top of the page was a handwritten or stamped date, sometimes including the day of the week. Usually, several days were on each page, with either a stamped or handwritten date. The ledger covers were rusted shut, so the sample pages were trimmed out of the ledger.
Column 1: Blank
2: 1st letter of depositor’s surname
3: Stamped or handwritten date and names and sometimes numbers
4: Numbers, sometimes in red
Each day’s activity was totaled, with black or red entries done separately. The handwriting is difficult on some pages.
