17 7/8”h x 7 5/8”w The book's pages were numbered in blue. At the top of a few pages was a handwritten date. Occasionally, more than one day was on a page, with a handwritten date. The entries were still alphabetized each day. The ledger covers were rusted shut, so the sample pages were trimmed out of the ledger. Column 1: Blank 2: Blank [the 1st letter of depositor’s surname no longer appeared] 3: Date, handwritten, names of depositors, often the amounts of individual checks 4: Numbers, with very few red entries Each day’s activity was totaled, with the black and red numbers done separately.
