The book's pages were numbered in blue. At the top of the page was a handwritten or stamped date, sometimes including the day of the week. Usually, several days were on each page, with either a stamped or handwritten date. The ledger covers were rusted shut, so the sample pages were trimmed out of the ledger.
Column 1: Blank
2: Blank, although occasionally the 1st letter of depositor’s surname
3: Date, either stamped or handwritten, names of depositors and sometimes numbers
4: Numbers, with those in red representing savings deposits
Each day’s activity was totaled, with the black and red numbers done separately. The handwriting on these pages was terrible.
