5"h x 8"w black and white photo of the Dickerson railroad station on the Washington to Cumberland line. The small building was in considerable disrepair. The long side faced the tracks. A triangular projection with big windows in the middle of that elevation allowed the station manager to see up and down the tracks. There was an entry door on each side of the projection. The one on the left also had a screen door, so it was likely the waiting room and the other door was for the manager's office. A concrete platform for passengers, slightly longer than the station house, was next to the tracks. A false dormer in the roof may say "1891" in the triangular space. The windows on the long side were two lights over two, while the pair of windows on the gable end were six lights over two. The edges of the roof were failing and the chimney corbel was losing bricks. There were several pieces of track maintenance equipment parked just beyond the building. There appeared to be a road behind the station. The power pole on the left had five cross bars, but the pole on the right had only one. That pole did carry a street light.
Text on verso: In blue ink on the bottom left "B&O Dickerson, MD. January 1975--built 1891"
There is a black ink property stamp and a paragraph typed on brown paper was taped to the verso.Collection
